FREIGHT POLICY
Presto Tape negotiates a yearly contract with a number of freight carriers to ship our surface protection films and tapes. When we ship to our customers, we take into consideration the service area, the actual freight cost, transit time, and our past experience with the carrier.
Presto Tape pays the actual freight charge on shipments valued at $2,000 and east of the Mississippi River and on shipments valued at $3,500 and west of the Mississippi River.
Shipments into Canada with a value of $3,500 are sent prepaid.
Accessorial charges are not covered by Presto Tape and will be added to the invoice. These additional charges include: blind shipments, calls for delivery appointments, inside deliveries, lift gate services, residential pick up or delivery, and guaranteed delivery, etc.
During the last year another charge has been added to freight costs. This charge is the fuel surcharge. The freight companies do not include this cost in the negotiations since it varies.
It is a separate line item on each freight bill. Presto Tape will only pay the negotiated portion of the freight bill. The fuel surcharge is treated the same as the accessorial charge and added to the invoice. We are hopeful that at some point the fuel surcharge will be dropped by the carriers.
